BB History

Linda found these old friends in the archives and after a little tlc, in the form of wood glue, they are ready and working again. I thought with 2 new members and with our 25th anniversary this year I would post a little BB history every now and then.
The group was formed in the autumn of 1990 by 9 students who had completed Part 2 of City and Guilds Embroidery at Brunel College with tutor, Mary Youles. They wanted to discuss and evaluate their work and hold regular workshops, developing their work within a supportive and friendly environment. Their first exhibition was in Chepstow in 1991 with A level students from Stroud College and ceramic students from Cardiff College. It was a steep learning curve with so much to organize. (more to follow. Alison and Carolyn, founder members may remember this exhibition, it was before I joined))

Had a great day with Emily Joy working in porcelain. These have yet to be fired but maybe they will become a book.,

preliminary sketches

Preliminary sketches of animals for my length. I have been looking at how our visceral reactions (gut feelings) relate to a mix of senses. This internal-animalistic-emotional-knowledge is hidden, I wish to make it beautiful and visible.

Gifts through the post

After our last meeting Louise asked me if I needed any more fabrics for my project for Nature in Art. Through the post came these lovely old pieces of stitched cloth.  Thank you Louise. It has given me more ideas about another piece of work that could have 'bits' as Louise called them in from friends all pieced together.  That will have to wait a while.

Marlborough Embroiderers Guild

Julie took some great pictures of the BB work we took to show the members of the Guild.

Marlborough Embroiderers Guild

On Monday of this week Susi gave a talk about the Brunel Broderers to Marlborough Embroiderers Guild. Liz, Julie and Kay went with her and we had a wonderful time.  Everyone loved Susi's talk and they made us all feel very welcome.
